Maybe some more ways to find a guest in the system, because in some cases choiceADVANTAGE is sensitive to the names. So maybe a list could come up with spellings that are close to what we might have put in.
They should duplicate the profit manager system for finding a guest. There are more choices to narrow down who you are looking for. CA is much too time consuming and confusing. Again if we must convert to this system it should be at least AS user friendly as profit manager which it is not!
I certainly agree with the previous comment. Choice Advantage is not as user friendly as Profit Manager! It takes longer to train new staff. There are so many screens & steps you must go through to check-in guests, make reservations, check-out guests, etc, etc that CA is very, very frustrating at times. CA would be a very poor set up for a big property with high occcupancy. There have been some improvments made but there is still a long way to go for it to be as good as Profit Manger.
I agree, the Application developer should spend some time at front desk and maybe use competitors Apps (ie. CheckInn), Guest tracking is very critical to hotels, specially if you have a DNR ( Do Not Rent list). A guest's stay history / comment field should pop-up as you search for guest's last name and flag the hotels best and worst repeat guest.
You can't just look for a guest via last name. Either by telephone OR name, country AND postal code.. too much info is required. I mean really, how do we know their postal codes or phone numbers? The only other way is to look them up via find reservation and select checked out.
Yes, absolutley. In the past I have used a different computer system and looking up guests was a lot easier. There has to be an easier way. Also, when checking someone in, we go to create walk in, at that point when we enter a guests last name or even a partial last name a list should pop up with numerous names of prior guests and we should be able to click on the guest of our choice.
We have had problems not finding a guest on arrival because the original call taker spelled it wrong. Then we end up with a no-show and the person is in house with a closely spelled name.
I agree that I think special notes should come up along with the guest history. We have list of Banned Guests and we've had people check them in because they didn't think to look at the list. It would be nice to have history of the guest so we can remember easly who was a good/bad guest.
There should be more search criteria so that we can find guest easily and also with a detailed information such as past stay history and ther past rate, room type etc.
I must agree that finding a guest can be difficult and frustrating with CA. Some examples:
Using just the phone# is ok; but in this day and age, everyone has at least two phones and sometimes more. "Which number did I give you last time?"
Using name and postal code is ok; but for "Snowbirds"(older folks who travel for the weather)..."Which zip code was that under?" or "Did you want the one for my house or my POBox?"
As for more info coming up with a guests history, I agree. It would be nice to know what rate a guest usually gets, or what room they prefer, etc. And on the flip side, it would be nice to know which guests are...particular...about certain things. You know the ones.
Now that you need all this extra infor to make the reservation, there should be a way that any one with that last name comes up and when you find the one you need just click to fill in all the blanks.
I agree with the previous posters. Trying to locate a guest is time-consuming and confusing on CA. Why does it require a phone number AND zip code? The properties really should be the ones setting the parameters for something like that. That is a pain, especially in a situation where I'm trying to locate past folios for a guest (that has some kind of dispute with our property).
